Older women at risk of homelessness a worry

The rate of homelessness among older women in the NT is 19 times higher than the national rate and while the NT saw a decline in homelessness generally between 2011 and 2016, the number of older women experiencing homelessness remains stable.

Presentations from The National Homelessness Conference, Melbourne 2018

The 2018 National Homelessness Conference, presenting the theme ‘Ending homelessness together’, delivered a wealth of evidence and information on ways to understand, reduce and alleviate homelessness. Over 800 delegates and more than 80 speakers participated across two very full days, exploring the underlying drivers of homelessness and the differing strategies on how best to overcome it.

Australian First Nation Older Women High Risk of Homelessness

There is a limited access to physically, culturally and spiritually sensitive support services and housing options for First Nations Australians. The ongoing social and economic exclusion of female Elders and future female Elders will contribute to compounded historical and personal traumas, and do nothing to decolonise Australia and Australian support services.

Ageing in the Bush: An ageing in place strategy for Regional Western Australia

The State Wide Ageing in the Bush project was an initiative of the Regional Development Council of Western Australia with the objective to “identify aged care models for regional WA that will enable residents to age in their community”. A number of models to address state wide issues have been developed.

Security of tenure for the ageing population in Western Australia: Does current housing legislation support Seniors’ ongoing housing needs?

The genesis of this research commenced several years ago as the impactof Western Australia’s ‘resources boom’ was becoming evident. Although that period augured in years of prosperity for some Western Australians, for many – especially those on lower and xed incomes – the rising cost of living became problematic.
