Vote for Change

As we heard from Tanya Plibersek MP at the At Risk Forum in 2021:

"Email, write, phone, visit, tell your story, talk to MPs, be prepared to vote on it"

These are the actions we can take to influence the change in federal parliament and get real action on affordable housing for older people.

Email

This is the first step everyone can take to register their opinion with their federal representations and candidates. Send your message now.

Write

If you’ve emailed and not got the action required, take the next step and write to request a meeting with your federal minister. Here is an example letter to send.

Tell your story

Politicians need to hear the real stories from the coal face of the older peoples housing crisis. Share your story with others on this forum and we will HAAG will collate these stories into a message we will send to federal politicians and candidates.

Talk to MPs

Arranging meetings with politicians can be daunting. But older people from across the country are stepping up and taking on the challenge of meeting with politicians, and are sharing their experiences and opinions on this forum and encouraging you to do the same. We’ve also put together this helpful toolkit.
