Improvements for residential parks and older renters
Improvements for residential parks and older renters
The Victorian government just passed its Consumer Legislation Amendments bill, including some important reforms for renters and, especially, residential park residents. Highlights and things to know include:
- Limits on lease-breaking costs landlords can claim when someone in private rental ends a lease early;
- Getting rid of no-reason notices to vacate in residential parks
- A registration scheme that will see the government collect information about the residential park industry, which HAAG has long been pushing for
- Limits on rent increases and exit fees in residential parks.
These changes won’t start right away, but HAAG’s Tenancy and Retirement service can give you advice about your rights if any of these issues affect you.
