Report on the Housing and Support Needs of Cluid's Older Tenants

Clúid Housing is an independent not-for profit charity that develops and provides high quality, affordable housing for people who cannot afford to buy their own home or pay for private rented housing. Clúid currently owns or leases approximately 5,200 homes across the country. In 2014 we decided to develop an Older Persons’ Housing Strategy. The impetus for this was twofold: firstly, we were aware that the growing number of older tenants in our mainstream housing (nearly 700 aged 60+) had a range of housing and support needs that needed to be addressed. Secondly, we wanted to know whether our sheltered housing for older people, which provides housing for about 400 households, was the most appropriate model.
