Housing America's Older Adults

Households headed by someone 50 or over represent 55 percent of all the nation’s households. • Over the past several years, the most significant growth in older households came from baby boomers aged 65- 74. This group expanded by 26 percent from 2011-2016 to over 17 million households. • The number of households in the 80-and-over age group will more than double by 2037. This paper looks at key facts in the ares of housing a growing elderly population in the US.
