Power Radical Radio! Donate to HAAG's Raise the Roof during 3CRs Radiothon so that we can keep radical, independent news focussing on the issues facing older renters on the air.

Vanessa became homeless after she returned to Melbourne from overseas where she had gone to look after three ill family members. Once back in Melbourne Vanessa could not find work or housing and was startled at how much rents had increased in the time she was away. Vanessa couldn't find employment due to her age, and couldn't get a lease on Newstart Allowance.

On the eve of the Federal Election, Pam and Fiona chat with Leonie Bessant about the National Alliance for Seniors Housing and what they are hoping for from a Federal Government to address the housing affordability crisis.  We also discuss the recent amendments in Victoria to the Residential Tenancies Act and what older renters should be aware of.

Mr and Mrs Armstrong* live in a for-profit retirement residential park (aka ‘lifestyle’ village) located in a rural area outside of Melbourne. Mr Armstrong called up for assistance in requesting that village management complete repairs to their property.

Mr and Mrs Jenner* are a couple in their mid 70s who moved from a rural area to Melbourne four years ago to access specialised medical treatment, and wanted to move back closer to family. Since June 2016 they have been trying to sell their moveable unit so they can finally move. The couple asked the park owner sell their unit.

HAAG worker Paola Posso's recounts her story of working with Elsa and Jacinto to get out of private rental and into public housing while receiving palliative care for terminal cancer.
