Information session for all residents of retirement housing types including retirement villages, residential parks, lifestyle villages, rental villages, independent living units about the need for a specific, timely, free, accessible and binding dispute resolution service for all retirement housing residents, as well as other information on fair fees, management training and simplified contracting.

This will be an opportunity for the Commissioner for Residential Tenancies and other policy-makers to hear directly from residents about the good and bad in this type of housing.

Vanessa Heart spoke on the panel of Undercover at the Melbourne International Film Festival in Melbourne to deliver information about housing options. 100 people attended the screening on Wednesday 17th of August.

Sadly, our General Meeting and soup lunch will be moved online to keep members safe during this surge in covid cases. However we will still be getting together online to catch up and strategise to put older people’s housing on the agenda at the Victorian State Election.

Hoda Nahal visited the Ladies club 60 in Tarneit Community Learning Centre to deliver information about housing options in Hindi. 15 people attended the session on Monday 8th of August. The session went very well. Received a positive feed back from the participants.

Teresa Jasper and Joan Broughan visited the CWA regional conference- Rodney Shire in the Goulburn-Hume region to deliver information about housing options. 30 people attended the session on Thursday 4th of August. Speakers addressed a regional conference of the CWA and spoke about the challenges associated with homelessness and ageing. The Rollo Currie foundation support of the inclusion of Mitchell, Strathbogie, Moria, Shepparton and Murrindindi shires in the services offered by HAAG. We also spoke about the need for systemic and political activism to change the eligibility requirements for public housing, particularly the assets limit in Victoria.

Joan Broughan visited the Seymour Community Radio in Goulburn Valley, Seymour to deliver information about housing options. 1000 people attended the session on Tuesday 5th of July.

Stephanie Agius, Rebecca Cook, Jennifer Brown and Kris Spark visited the Australian Croatian Community Services in St Albans to deliver information about housing options. 30 people attended the session on Monday 23rd of May. ACCS invited HAAG to attend their Ageing Well Expo. Kris Spark delivered information about accessing affordable housing. Surveys were handed out but none were returned. Verbal feedback from participants was that the session was helpful. At least 5 people came to HAAG's stall afterwards to seek further information. Jennifer, Stephanie and Rebecca managed HAAG's stall for the duration of the expo. Other organisations in attendance were the Cancer Council, Public Transport Ombudsman, Croatian specific Aged Care service - CRO Care, Brimbank Council.
