This panel on May 13th ahead of the Australian Federal Election brought together independent candidates Zali Steggall, Jo Dyer, Hanabeth Luke, Liz Habermann, Jane Caro, Fenella Edwards and Nicolette Boele to put forward their positions in relation to ending homelessness of older women.

There are 405,000 older women at risk of homelessness in Australia. These are stories of four of them. Vanessa, Jo, Robyn and Lynette tell their stories in this powerful video.

Can you identify an older person experiencing or at risk of homelessness, or know what aged care services are available to them?

In OPAN's live webinar on March 30 2021 we discussed how aged care workers can support older people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. HAAG joined this panel of experts explored how to identify homelessness among older people, an overview of existing support services, service access barriers and solutions and supporting homeless or at-risk individuals to access services.

If an assessor sees an older person who is living in private rental, they are likely to be at risk. Being single and female increases their risk. By linking them with a support service like the ACH program we can prevent people from falling into a housing crisis.
