People speaking out and asking decision makers for action can shift government policy to improve housing outcomes for older people as a priority. We need to turn our awareness of older womens homelessness into targeted action. Use this form to send a message to your elected representatives in Federal Parliament to let them know they need to act now.

A new housing information service for older people has come to the Goulburn Valley region, providing information and advice on housing options and practical support for older people at risk of homelessness.

We have adjusted our service according to changing government guidelines. See this post for more details.

HAAG sent this letter to Victorian Ministers for Consumer Affairs, Housing and Planning, asking them to reinstate the state’s emergency COVID renting laws, and in particular the eviction moratorium, as an urgent measure to avoid exposing older Victorians to a risk of eviction and homelessness during the pandemic.

 

New South Wales government handed down the State budget today. It was encouraging to see the additional investment to address rough sleeping in NSW with $57 million for Together Home program. However, it was disappointing to see the lack of investment on housing support for older people.
