Since expanding the Home at Last service to the Northern Central Victoria region, Housing for the Aged Action Group is proud to have helped one hundred older people experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity to find safe, secure and affordable “forever homes”.

Our service helps people in towns across North Central Victoria, covering parts of the Goulburn Valley and Loddon-Campaspe regions. Our local workers can arrange to meet in your town. They also hold regular information sessions in Neighbourhood Houses across the region.

In 2021, Housing for the Aged Action Group extended its housing information service for older people to the Goulburn Valley region of North Central Victoria, providing information and advice on housing options and practical support for older people at risk of homelessness. Despite floods, COVID-19, heatwaves and fires, a small team of local women have assisted over 91 older people at risk of homelessness to find housing. This video tells their story.

Stories from the Valley

Bev, a 59-year-old woman, had been living in a cottage in Murrindindi but had to move out due to the property being sold. Our regional support worker met Bev at the local library to complete a housing application.

Peter* was living in a caravan park in North Central Victoria. Neal*, the caravan park manager, had initiated a dispute when he discovered Peter, who was estranged from his family, didn’t have a will.

Kayleen, a 55-year-old Yorta Yorta Aboriginal woman, was given HAAG’s number by a friend to talk about her housing needs.
