Ageing in Place the Way Forward

Reference
Population ageing is a significant phenomenon of the 21st century which manifest in economic, social and personal challenges and pressures for societies world-wide. Nowhere is this truer than in regard to accommodation for older citizens. Many countries are increasingly adopting policies supporting the notion of Ageing-in-Place. A total of twenty country summary reports were prepared prior to the 2008 International Federation on Ageing meeting, representing policy and practice views from not only developed countries, but of those countries known as developing and in transition. Reports ranged from a ‘whole’ of government perspective which outlined the broad range of policy responses that can be defined as supporting Ageing-in-Place to portfolio specific initiatives and State or Provincial summaries of Ageing in place programs and initiatives.
