Participation and Early Intervention Worker

We are seeking an experienced community development worker with a commitment to genuine participation for older people with a lived experience of being at risk of homelessness.  Our organisation has a long history of being led by and for older people, and this role will be working across our existing member-led working groups to develop a consistent organisation-wide approach to participation as well as building on our early intervention peer education program.

During COVID-19 lockdown, there will be no face-to-face work and you will need the ability to work from home.  This will require new ways of engagement for older people who are digitally disadvantaged, and the ability to think creatively to overcome barriers to participation.

You will have experience in working with disadvantaged communities, working with small groups, and a collaborative approach to working.  Experience in working within community member-based organisations will be an advantage.

This is a part time (0.8) maternity leave position for six months. However, it may be extended as our organisation expands, and will be integral to our commitment to participation by older people in all our service delivery and advocacy, as part of our strategic plan.

HAAG is committed to recruiting a diverse range of people with a diverse range of talents to help us achieve our goals. We encourage  applications from culturally and linguistically diverse, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals.

Housing for the Aged Action Group provides generous salary and conditions.
