The NSW Ageing on the Edge Coalition brings together 150 organisations and supporters. The members of the Coalition are advocates for change, including older people with lived experience of homelessness, service providers, peak advocacy bodies and private sector organisations, working together to address housing and homelessness related issues of older people.

NSW Lived Experience Advisory Group 

The NSW Lived Experience Advisory Group brings together older people living in NSW who have experienced housing stress or homelessness, to help us tell the NSW Government what's needed for older people. If you are an older renter, someone living in retirement housing, or someone experiencing housing stress aged over 50 years old, you might be interested in joining this group. Housing for Equality: Putting Women's Housing on the Agenda

With over 400,000 women over the age of 45 at risk of homelessness, the provision of affordable, long-term housing for women is vital to prevent even more older women from falling into homelessness. On the other hand, younger women are finding it more difficult to secure a foothold in the Australian dream of owning a home.

This situation has to change, and with the upcoming federal election, now is the time to understand the connection between housing and gender equality; and why without affordable, long-term housing, women will continue to lag behind.

Report Launch - Home at Last: Solutions to ending homelessness in NSW

New report calls for early intervention and preventative approach to end homelessness for older people in NSW

A new report by the Ageing on the Edge NSW Forum is advocating for the NSW Government to adopt the Home at Last program running in Victoria, which provides advice, support and advocacy for older people who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. The report recommends a comprehensive approach based the tried and tested model in Victoria which has been operating since 2012.

Home at Last: Responding to Homelessness Among Older People in NSW

Housing is critically important for physical and mental health, and general wellbeing of older people. With a decline in home ownership at retirement age, unprecedented increases in housing prices and a reduction in social and affordable housing stock in NSW, older people are experiencing significant housing challenges and are at increased risk of homelessness.

We are calling on the NSW Government to fund aservice to support older people to plan for their housing future and navigate the often-complex housing service system in NSW before they reach crisis point.
