Project Making Progress at the NSW Rental Options Roundtable for Older People

 As part of the NSW government’s Ageing Strategy 2016-20, Jeff Fiedler gave a presentation to the Rental Options Roundtable for Older People that was attended by 50 key representatives of agencies in NSW including the Minister for Ageing Tanya Davies.

This edition explores some of the achievements of HAAG and its members over the past 3 months including Retirement Housing Sector Reform and the expansion of HAAG Assistance for Housing and Care (ACH) services into the Barwon Region We also discuss some of the challenges faced through threatened federal government cuts to essential services.

We also pay our respects to Carmel McMennemin, life-time member of HAAG and pioneer for housing rights in Victoria.

Peter and Anna are hard working older people who have rented since coming to Australia. They, like so many others, suffer the consequences of a rental system that favours the rights of landlords. This is their story.
