HAAG AGM and Report Launch 2016

The 2016 HAAG Annual General Meeting took place on Thursday 17th Novemeber 2016 in the Hayden Raysmith room of Ross House, L4 247 Flinder street Melbourne.

The Commisioner for Senior Victorians lauched the report by HAAG and a coalition of community agencies "A Home for Life: Towards and Older Persons Housing Strategy", which calls on government to partner with community organisations and adopt recommendations to address the long term housing needs for older people.

HAAG member Joan Lansbury spoke of her personal experience with Homelessness and we heard from other coalition members:

Council of the Aged (COTA), Fair Go for Pensioners, Ethnic Communities Council of Victoria, Wintringham, Carers Victoria and the Australian Universal Housing Design Network who shared their expert views on what must be done to ensure our older Australians and future generations can age comfortably with dignity and joy.

HAAG Managers April Bragg and Jeff Fiedler were presented awards for thier outstanding commitment to older people’s housing justice.

A new Committee of Management was elected for 2017 and two members -Carmel McMennemin and Frances Swann- were awarded lifetime memberships.
